Glossary: the Chinese terms behind every English guide
Most guides for this game are translated from Chinese, and a bad translation changes the mechanic. This page fixes one English word per term and lists the lookalikes to avoid.
At a glance
- 灵压
- Lingya (Spiritual Pressure) — the fabao-derived combat stat
- 法宝
- fabao — flying treasures; not “magic items”
- 神通
- divine ability — never “skill”
- 证道之路
- Path of Dao Verification — the 1,050-stage track
- 封妖录
- Fengyao Record — the 23-beast capture system
- Ability names
- Kept in pinyin; no verified official English labels
Almost every English reference for this game is a translation of a Chinese guide, and translation drift is the main reason two players can argue about a mechanic for an hour and both be wrong. This glossary fixes one English term per Chinese concept. Where no official English label has been verified, the site keeps the pinyin and says so rather than inventing a translation.
How should you use this glossary?
Use it as a lookup, not as reading material. If another site uses a different word for the same concept, translate it back to the Chinese term first — that is the stable identifier. Two labels that look like translations of different systems are often the same system, and two identical English words sometimes describe different Chinese mechanics.
Combat terms
| Chinese | English on this site | What it actually means |
|---|---|---|
| 灵压 | Lingya (Spiritual Pressure) | Sum of the Lingya values on your equipped fabao; decides stun and shield strip |
| 法宝 | fabao | Flying treasure that fights alongside you; plural stays “fabao” |
| 神通 | divine ability | Slotted combat art; four slots define a build |
| 会心 | crit | Critical hit; “critical” as an adjective |
| 真元 | true essence | Resource pool spent by domain intrusion and some arts |
| 护盾 | shield | Layer that Lingya and shield-break arts strip |
| 领域 | domain | Ten-cast trigger; any aura-pressure lead intrudes (5% is Dominator's stricter rule) |
| 威压 | aura pressure | The value compared for domain intrusion |
| 降神值 | Descent Value | 0–100 meter; 15 at start, 8 per second decay once triggered |
| 阴神 | Yin Deity | The figure compared during Descent; 阴神威煞 is the dread gap that scales damage and reduction by 0.5% per 1% |

Which lookalike terms must you not mix?
Four traps account for most of the confusion:
- 问剑长生 vs 御剑问长生. The second is a different title that appears in search results. Mechanics do not transfer.
- 炼虚 vs 返虚. Two labels for the same band. Do not treat them as two realms when you compare enhancement tables.
- Lingya vs combat power. Lingya is a fabao sum with a specific stun rule, not a generic power score.
- Fengyao Record vs “seal demon record”. Machine translations flip the verb and noun; the system is a capture collection, not a sealing ritual.
Why are ability names kept in pinyin?
Because there is no verified official English label list. Translating a name like 裂神 as “Splitting Spirit” looks helpful until a patch renames the art or a reader cannot find that string in-game. Pinyin is at least consistent and searchable. Where a name carries a mechanic in its meaning — 断罪, 斩道 — the page gives a one-time gloss in parentheses and then uses the pinyin.
If an official English glossary appears later, this page is the single place to update, and every other page inherits the change. Until then, the pinyin convention is the honest choice, and it is why the build library labels every rotation with the Chinese-derived names.
